After the loss of Jeffrey the Smug Mutts were all very broken hearted. After some soul searching we decided the best
way to honor Jeffrey was to give another homeless dog a home.
Enter Lilli Bell, Smug Mutt number seven.
To put it nicely, Lilli did not have a very good start to her life. Lilli spent her first two and a half years with a for-profit
breeder in a Puppy Mill.

Cavaliers can suffer from many health issues with most being hereditary. One of these is a condition called Luxating
Patella, or "Loose Knees". Lilli has this condition and since it is hereditary, her puppies may have it also. When this
breeder found this out it became no longer profitable to keep her so they got rid of her.
She was saved by another wonderful rescue group in our area called Diana's Grove Dog Rescue. When we heard
about Lilli and her situation we knew she was the one.
When we met Lilli that day she was very shy and scared. She was also dirty, matted, and smelly and we were in love!
After waiting about a week for her spay surgery to heal so her stitches could come out, Lilli got a bath and grooming
and lots of TLC.
Her transformation has been amazing! She is no longer that shy scared little dog hiding in the back of that crate she
called home for all that time. She has become a happy, outgoing, and very loving girl. She has also found her voice
and is very opinionated. If there is something she doesn't like or has a problem with she will let you know.
She still has a lot to learn about being a normal dog, and there may be surgery in her future for her Luxating Patella,
but her new brothers and sisters will be there to help her all the way. And hey, she already has a distinction they
don't, she is the first pure breed Smug Mutt.
